Case IO–4: the incomplete delivery LAA / 2956 / CARGO-CASE 2956 · public reading copy CDR Tobias Wren A cargo exercise uses the 1968 waybill’s distinction between dispatch and receipt. The record The Neuhaus freight record distinguishes eighteen units dispatched from sixteen received, with two still requiring movement. Students should consult the corporate archive rather than treat this synopsis as the original waybill. Exercise brief In the teaching problem, a crew reaches the destination with fewer containers than its dispatch list. The receiver cannot confirm whether the missing containers remain at origin, were lost, or were omitted from the loading count. Teams have one short movement window left. Work required Prepare a corrected receiving entry, identify who must check origin and propose a recovery decision. Keep the difference open until there is evidence to close it. Do not simply reduce the dispatch figure to make the ledger agree. Discussion Compare the cost of a second journey with the consequences of an inaccurate receipt. The exercise can be completed with a small cargo load; volume and profit are not the assessed skills. Lex Astra Academy / HLN fictional setting. Public reading copy.
