People of the Academy

Faculty & academic offices

The faculty’s responsibility is to teach, examine and explain its decisions. Operational distinction does not exempt an instructor from that obligation.

Academic offices in the setting

The named officeholders below are characters in Lex Astra’s fictional institutional history. They are not a directory of players available to teach. Current teaching is arranged through an appointed instructor and a scheduled group.

Teaching, stewardship & academic service

The Academy’s academic offices connect instruction with the standards it serves. Programme leads maintain the curriculum, instructors guide practice, and examining panels establish what each candidate has demonstrated. The Registrar preserves the resulting record.

For advice on entry, course selection or recognition of prior learning, submit a study enquiry identifying your intended programme and relevant experience. Assessment reviews follow the separate standards procedure so that the original teaching team does not decide its own appeal.

Joining the teaching faculty

Faculty preparation begins with competence in the subject to be taught. Candidates assemble evidence of their practice, complete ED 101 and undertake observed co-teaching. The review considers clarity of explanation, useful feedback, accessible participation and accurate assessment records.

ED 201 extends preparation to assessment: applying published criteria, distinguishing individual evidence from group results and moderating findings with another assessor. ED 210 prepares exercise directors to coordinate scenarios, observation, relief and recovery.

Appointment defines the courses and responsibilities entrusted to each instructor. Experienced applicants may present equivalent teaching evidence for independent review; qualification and appointment remain separate decisions.

Examining panels

A teaching lead may nominate examiners. Conflicts of interest require recusal and a recorded replacement. Reviews of a disputed assessment are heard by a panel independent of the original decision.
