The institution / 2891–2956

A school built around a record

The Academy began with a practical problem: experience acquired on one ship could not always be taught, examined or trusted on another.

Before the Academy

Heinrich Neuhaus died in 1990, centuries before Lex Astra opened. He did not write its fleet syllabus or found its schools. His papers reached the Academy through the institutions his descendants built: the Humanitarian Logistics Network of 2075 and HLN Group, formed in 2158.

Those papers gave later teachers something less convenient than a flawless founder. The wartime correspondence records a junior officer using limited authority to help people persecuted by the regime, while his private account admits responsibility for earlier orders. The freight papers show duties still outstanding after a vehicle had left the yard.

Lex Astra studies both. A lesson in obedience that cannot account for Heinrich’s refusal would misunderstand its own inheritance.

2891

A school beside the fleet

Aldric Soren becomes the first Commandant. One lecture hall and two simulation bays bring instruction that had depended on individual captains into a common register. The founding leaf separates attendance, examination and commission.

The institution keeps its revisions

The early register, the current Ordinance and the revised induction text are different kinds of evidence. The Academy identifies each edition rather than claiming that every practice has survived unchanged since the founding.

The opening register leaf is reproduced in the corporate archive. Later public issues can be read and downloaded from the Meridian catalogue.
