The Great Hall
The assembly chamber, Commandant’s rooms and Hall of Records surround the central court. New students pass beneath the Arch of Names, which commemorates the first twelve graduates.
At induction, faculty witnesses sign the register before it returns to the Registrar. Between formal occasions, the court is a meeting place for students arriving for seminars and examinations.

A day of study
Follow an example assignment from preparation to debrief. This is a teaching sequence, not a scheduled session.
Independent reading
Read the brief before the seminar
Work through the assigned sources and identify the assumptions behind them. Bring a question, a provisional position and the evidence that led you there.
A relief vessel has limited cargo space. What information would you need before deciding which supplies to load?

Institutional life
Traditions and ceremonies
Induction, remembrance and recognition mark different responsibilities within the Academy.
Induction
The induction is a public undertaking to study honestly and to exercise judgement with care for others. The current text, revised in 2956, joins discipline to conscience rather than blind obedience. An affirmation carries the same standing as an oath.
Read the induction text →Remembrance
The annual memorial remembers those whose service did not end in graduation or retirement. Names and records of their work give the community an opportunity to consider what can be learned from their lives and losses.
Recognition
Awards recognise work that has been examined. Examination, award and appointment remain separate decisions; graduation does not automatically confer a commission. Graduates may pursue different professions and organisations.
Visiting and ceremonial guidance
Ask the organiser about accessible routes and alternative ways to take part. Ceremonial light need not involve an open flame, and an affirmation is available without disadvantage.
Getting started
Taking part
You do not need to join HLN to study at Lex Astra.
Begin with a course
Published courses are available to read. Browse the subjects, review the required preparation and contact the Academy about teaching or practical sessions.

Instructor availability and practical delivery are confirmed separately. Player teaching requires a confirmed organiser, agreed session times and suitable in-game arrangements.

The campus and institutional calendar belong to Lex Astra’s fictional setting. Illustrations do not depict visitable Star Citizen locations, and the calendar is not a live events schedule.
The Crucible’s seventy-two hours belong to its scenario, not a continuous player endurance test. Sessions include agreed breaks and relief, and participation can be paused out of character.
