Publication and delivery
This course is published for study. Publication does not confirm an available class, appointed instructor or completed practical validation. Before booking, obtain a session brief naming the organiser, instructor and assessor, equipment access and any independent review arrangements.
Before live assessment, the organiser must record the current LIVE build, validation date, ship and equipment used, tasks checked and any known limitations. If a required mechanic is unavailable, defer the affected assessment rather than certify an unobserved outcome. A material game update calls for a check of affected tasks, not cancellation of earlier academic achievements.
Your brief
For solace Horizon Relief recovery trainees and receiving transport crew.
The medical-gameplay drill concentrates on the handover between recovery and CradleFleet transport. The receiver needs the status observed, not a reassuring description of effort.
Transport needs the actual result

Practical instruction revision 1 · 9 October 2026
In-game casualty assessment, medication and evacuation
Read health, injury and drug state separately
Secure access in the game before exposing the rescuer. Equip the ParaMed device, aim at the casualty in range and read health, affected body parts, injury tiers and Blood Drug Level (BDL). A player may be conscious yet unable to walk normally, or have restored health while an injury persists. Tier 3 is minor, Tier 2 moderate and Tier 1 severe: the numbering runs opposite to severity. Leg injuries impair movement, arm injuries impair handling, chest injuries affect stamina and head injuries affect vision or hearing. Ask whether the casualty can move after inspecting the display; do not infer capability from standing up.
Use the medical tool to treat the indicated state
Hemozal restores health, stops bleeding and can revive an incapacitated character; it does not repair every underlying injury. The LifeGuard attachment has more limited drug capability than the ParaMed. Begin with the tool’s normal treatment interface and verify the selected target and indicated treatment before applying it. ParaMed symptom drugs include Roxaphen for pain and movement, Demexatrine for concussion and handling, and Sterogen for sensory and stamina symptoms. These suppress symptoms temporarily rather than heal the injury. Re-read health and BDL after treatment. Repeated dosing or overlapping drugs can impair or overdose the character; do not keep applying medication simply because the injury icon remains. Resurgera affects drug recovery, not a substitute for restoring health in an incapacitated casualty.
Choose care that can heal the injury
Match the worst injury to a bed that can treat that tier: a Tier 3 bed cannot fully heal a Tier 2 or Tier 1 injury; a Tier 1 bed provides the highest tier of care. A lower-tier bed may stabilise the patient without resolving the injury. Verify the actual vessel configuration, bed resource state and destination access rather than relying on the ship name. Arrange supported casualty movement with a clear route, place the patient in the bed and confirm the treatment result. Regeneration location, respawn range and injury-healing tier are separate properties; a respawn-capable vehicle is not automatically definitive care. Report observed condition, drugs given, effect and remaining injury to the receiving crew. These are fictional game mechanics, not real-world medical procedures.
Practical drill
Use a consenting participant or an instructor-provided game-state demonstration; do not create uncontrolled injuries for practice. Inspect and explain the medical display, demonstrate the supported treatment interaction, reassess the result and transfer to an appropriate bed. If the required state is unavailable, use a labelled tabletop case for reasoning and leave live treatment observation outstanding.
Observed-skill checks
- The learner distinguishes health, incapacity, body-part injury tier and BDL from the actual display.
- Treatment is appropriate to the indicated game state and is followed by reassessment, not repeated blind dosing.
- The chosen bed can treat the reported injury and the handover preserves outstanding needs; simulated evidence is labelled.
Use these checks to document the technical evidence supporting the course outcomes in your agreed role. Record what you personally performed, what assistance you needed and what remains unobserved. A discussion or simulated action does not certify live equipment handling; Crew Support evidence does not confer Pilot qualification.
Game references and build-sensitive details
The linked pages were read for this revision. Community references mix release eras; each source note identifies what is used and what is excluded. Technical explanations below are an Academy synthesis, and drills and performance checks are Academy-designed. Before practice, compare the named actions with the installed LIVE build and actual equipment. Bind actions by name rather than copying old default keys. Research is not an in-game validation.

Learn the method
1. Confirm access and the participant
Identify the exercise participant, access route, recovery contact and stop signal before approaching. Check the scene against the brief rather than assuming a caller has cleared every obstacle. Pause if the participant or conditions do not match.
Separate reaching the casualty from being able to recover them. Verify the approach, the participant’s reported game state and the available extraction route before committing transport. If access fails, report the obstacle precisely so the coordinator can choose another route or resource rather than repeatedly sending crews into the same problem.
- Practise
- Brief the recovery approach with the participant.
- Ready when
- You confirm identity, access conditions and when the drill must pause.
2. Use the equipment demonstrated for this session
Have the instructor show the relevant game controls and observable result on the available equipment. Repeat those actions under observation. If a control or effect is unavailable, report it; old instructions do not establish current capability.
Use only the game indications and controls demonstrated on this equipment. Record the displayed condition before acting and check it again afterwards. Do not infer treatment from an animation, and do not translate the exercise into real-world medication, dosage or first-aid instruction. The practical concerns the observed Star Citizen interaction.
- Practise
- Perform the checked game equipment actions.
- Ready when
- The observer records your actual actions, equipment and observed effects.
3. Tell transport what changed and what did not
Give the last confirmed location and game status, actions attempted and effects actually observed. State any access or receiving limitation. Wait for transport to acknowledge the handover before treating the casualty as transferred.
Give transport a concise transfer report: identifier, location, observed game condition, intervention and observed effect, followed by the outstanding need. Confirm that the destination can provide the required in-game reception for this setup. A ship carrying medical equipment is not automatically a suitable receiving facility for every condition.
- Practise
- Hand the casualty to confirmed transport.
- Ready when
- The receiving crew repeat the status, performed actions and remaining limits.
A worked decision
A tool interaction produces no confirmed effect. The learner reports the attempted action and changes the recovery plan instead of reporting successful treatment.
- Confirm C-02 and access conditions, then perform the checked action under observation.
- Report the actual result: the action was attempted, but the expected effect is not confirmed. Pause or change the plan under the agreed limits.
- Give transport the observed game status, equipment action, unresolved effect and receiving limitation. Have the transport role read back those points.
Try it yourself
Perform the supported game actions and give the handover. If the mechanic fails, retain the observed evidence without inventing completion.
What changes during the exercise
The expected equipment interaction is unavailable.

Check your reasoning
The tool animation completed. Can the handover say the casualty improved?
Compare your reasoning
Only if the relevant game indication confirms that effect. Otherwise report the action attempted and effect unconfirmed so transport can plan using the actual information.
Answer first, then compare. In a later session, explain the decision using a changed case without referring to this answer.
How completion is judged
Observed game equipment use and an acknowledged transport handover.
The assessor checks your own work against all three “Ready when” criteria above. Use the observed-skill checks in the technical chapter to establish the applicable game-handling evidence in your agreed role. A successful team result does not replace an action they did not observe.
Findings, another attempt and review
- Demonstrated
- Your observed work meets the criterion in the agreed role.
- Further practice required
- The assessor identifies the observed gap and the specific practice needed.
- Interrupted
- Equipment, staffing or personal circumstances prevented a valid assessment. This is not a failure.
- Not assessed
- There is not yet enough evidence for this outcome.
A fresh attempt
After a successful capability retest, use a different permitted location or receiving restriction and observe the missed outcome.
Reassess the missing outcome, plus any linked skill that needs new evidence. For prior learning, compare existing work with the same criteria and observe any missing practical action.
Ask for the reasons behind a finding. Reviews must be handled by someone independent of the original decision; defer the review if that person is not available.

Session setup and coaching
Prepare the session
A consenting participant, session-tested medical gameplay equipment and suitable transport.
Assign crew stations and tell each learner what they will practise. The instructor must be able to hear the calls and see the action being assessed. Brief the callsigns, channel, route and expected duration. Replace the example locations with the places you will actually use.
- Ask the learner to explain the relevant earlier procedure without notes; correct any gap before the practical.
- Teach and demonstrate the technical chapter using the actual game indications. Run its drill with feedback before connecting those skills to the three methods and worked decision. Use the observed-skill checks to identify missing handling evidence.
- Let the learner complete the normal procedure first, then introduce the change described in the exercise. Give them time to respond without coaching. Keep unrelated failures out of this attempt.
- Record the learner's action against each criterion. Give one specific next step for any gap and transfer unfinished operational work before closing.
What to watch for in CS 202
Do not supply real medical protocols. Distinguish correct learner reporting from an environment failure that prevents an effect-check demonstration.
If another attempt is needed
After a successful capability retest, use a different permitted location or receiving restriction and observe the missed outcome.
Running the exercise
Before the crew assembles, try the exercise in the ship you intend to use. Check station access, equipment and the route. Brief the crew on any faults that affect the task. If a bug prevents someone completing it, repeat that part once it works; do not record a failure for a broken mechanic.
Brief the command “Stop exercise” before starting. On that call, cease the drill and tell the instructor what needs attention. For weapons practice, identify the participating ships and crew; anyone else entering the area is a reason to hold fire.
Session administration: use player handles in your notes. Ask before recording voice or video, and agree when the recording will be deleted. Academy rules and review procedure.
